In a bid to foster digital literacy and promote technology-driven education, Brotherhood Model College in Calabar has officially commissioned a fully-equipped ICT Centre.
The centre is equipped with work tables, chairs, ceiling fans, desktop computers, a projector, and a projector screen, 24 hours electricity to ensure that students have uninterrupted access to ICT resources, even during power outages.
Speaking during the official commissioning ceremony on Tuesday in Calabar, Capital of Cross River state, School Principal, Tari Pujeh stated that the initiative is in line with the college’s mission to enhance educational infrastructure and promote 21st-century learning.

She said that the facility, which was transformed from an empty room into a modern digital hub, formed part of efforts to promote digital literacy.
She said, “As you can see, this ICT centre is well equipped with work tables, chairs, ceiling fans, desktop computers. This is part of our efforts to strengthen digital literacy and promote 21st-century learning.”
She commended the Founder of the college, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu for his support to fully furnish the ICT hub, which according to her will improve digital education in the college.
“I want to specially thank the Proprietor. Our Beloved Father, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu for His love, and particularly for the support to complete this project. I fill so fulfilled”, She added.
In her remarks, Executive Secretary, Local Government Education Authority in Calabar South, Rosemary Anthony, said she was impressed by the innovation, adding that it is in line with what the Commissioner of Education wants for the State in the aspect of Computer Based Learning.
“The school is aligning itself with global standards with this State-of-the-art ICT Centre. This aligns with the People’s First mantra of Governor Bassey Otu. I want to urge you to do more,” She added.
Chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools of Nigeria in Calabar South LGA, Dr. Cletus Ibuot, commended the school speedily approach to the CBT initiative despite the government postponement of the proposed CBT exams during the WAEC and NECO to the year 2030.
He also added that the center is the first of it kind in Calabar South Local Government Area of the state. He described the ICT centre as a gateway to knowledge and innovation, as well as a window to future opportunities.
