Hon. James Anam, Chairman of Calabar Municipality Local Government Area, has committed to commissioning the newly built legislative chambers and council office complex before the end of December. This initiative aims to strengthen grassroots governance and enhance service delivery.
Anam revealed this on Monday during a solemn assembly commemorating his administration’s one-year anniversary in office. He emphasized fulfilling a key campaign promise to provide lawmakers with a suitable workspace.
“With God’s grace, the new chambers and council office will be officially opened by year-end. We pledged to give our lawmakers a befitting workplace, and that promise is materializing,” he affirmed.

The chairman highlighted that the new facilities would foster a better working environment for legislative and administrative functions. His administration prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and accountability in local governance.
Reflecting on his year in office, Anam credited divine guidance and teamwork for the administration’s achievements, noting peace, unity, and development within Calabar Municipality.
He praised council members, political appointees, and staff for their dedication and assured them of ongoing welfare and infrastructure support.
“Governance is challenging, but with faith and teamwork, we have secured stability and progress. My door remains open for constructive ideas and critiques to advance our local government,” he concluded.
The thanksgiving event drew religious leaders, political appointees, council workers, and residents, who joined in prayers and songs celebrating a year of peace and progress in the municipality.
