Former Presidential candidate of Labour Party LP in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has urged on the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, to focus more on addressing the challenges of vote buying in the country.
Obi made the called while briefing journalists shortly after casting his vote for the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his polling unit 019 Umudim-Akasi-Agulu in Anaocha local government area of the State
He lamented that the situation is deteriorating as the electoral process go by in the country.

“I am not please with the high level of vote buying currently ongoing in this year’s 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
“Votes are being bought between N15,000, N20,000 and N30,000 respectively.
“This syndrome is damaging the future of our youths and increasing unemployment in the country.”
Obi advised Nigerians, mostly, the youths not to tied their destinies with the vote buying syndrome.
