NTDC Endorses Onitsha Ofala, Major Festival In Nigeria

The Nigerian Tourism Development Commission (NTDC), has endorsed Onitsha Ofala as major Nigeria festival.

The endorsement information was contained in an address presented by the Chairman, Strategic Marketing and Communications Subcommittee of the occasion, Chief Nn’emeka Maduegbuna, during a press conference to commence this year 2025 Onitsha Ofala Festival, held at Ime Obi Onicha, Ezechima Square, Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State, on Thursday.

Maduegbuna also announced that the United Nations World Tourism Organisation has equally issue the festival, a certificate of recognition for excellence.

According to him, there is also ongoing UNESCO heritage recognition bid, These underscore the festival’s importance in promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

The 2025 Ofala is a call to action, urging us to tap into our inner strength, collective resilience, and unwavering commitment to one another.

“We are proud to showcase our rich cultural heritage and promote unity among our people.

“In this regard we are focused on, “Expanding visibility and attracting a diverse audience, securing strategic partnerships to preserve and promote Ofala’s cultural significance globally.

“Concerning partnership, we are collaborating with prominent organizations, including the National Council for Arts and Culture, Globacom Limited, NigerBev Limited, Guinness Nigeria PlC, Zenith Bank, and International Breweries PLC, to support the festival.

“We are excited to announce the launch of our mobile app, available now on both Android and iOS devices. This innovative platform brings the festival closer to participants and the global community.

“The Ofala Mobile App embodies the festival’s blend of cultural heritage and modern innovation, connecting attendees and well-wishers worldwide with the spirit of Ofala.

“Accreditation for the festival will commence today September 25, 2025 and end on October 8, 2025. It will be virtual. We urge all media representatives to adhere to established protocols and help us promote the festival’s message across the World.

“The festival aims to foster unity, promote resilience, and uphold enduring communal values that define our community,

“We invite all Nigerians and international visitors to join us from October 7 to November 2, 2025 in celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Onitsha Kingdom and on behalf of the steering committee, we expressed deep gratitude to the sponsors of the Ofala festival, particularly, the Globacom Limited, Zenith bank, Best Drinks Company and International Breweries PLC (brewers of Hero beer) for their continuous support.
