The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has attributed the ongoing power outage in Anambra State and parts of Enugu State to an explosion that occurred early Wednesday at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) substation in Awada, Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Emeka Ezeh, Group Head, Corporate Communications at EEDC, the company explained that the incident took place at approximately 2:34 a.m. and has since disrupted power supply to customers in the affected areas.

“We wish to inform our esteemed customers in Anambra State and Oji River, Enugu State, that the current power outage is due to an explosion at the TCN Station in Awada,” Ezeh stated.

He further noted that the development has resulted in a complete loss of electricity supply to all customers in the aforementioned areas.

According to Ezeh, EEDC is actively monitoring the situation and is in close communication with the TCN team, which is working diligently to restore the affected infrastructure.

“We are hopeful that power supply will be restored soon once the necessary repairs are completed,” he added.

Ezeh also acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outage and appealed for customers’ patience and understanding during this period.

“We sincerely regret the disruption and assure our customers of our unwavering commitment to providing improved and reliable electricity services,” he added.
