Man Shot Dead at Sheepshead Bay Housing Complex – BROOKLYN

June 01, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning outside a NYCHA building in Brooklyn, police said.

According to authorities, officers responding to 911 calls for a shooting found Rahquill Weekes, 22, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his lower back just before 3 a.m., outside of the Sheepshead Bay Houses NYCHA complex on Avenue W near Batchelder Street.

First responders rushed Weekes to Brookdale University Hospital where he did not survive and was pronounced dead at the medical center.

Early Saturday morning crime scene investigators were at the incident location canvassing for more evidence for the fatal shooting that may have stemmed from a physical altercation, cops said.

The perpetrator fled the scene and no arrests have been made as of yet. Detectives are working to locate the gunman and determine a motive in the case as the investigation is ongoing.

Shooting reported at approximately 2:50 am at 2975 Avenue W in the confines of the 61 Precinct.
