The Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Student Affairs has launched a comprehensive Student Database Form aimed at capturing detailed information about Cross Riverians currently enrolled in tertiary institutions as well as recent graduates. This data-gathering initiative is part of a broader effort by the Governor Bassey Edet Otu-led administration to ensure that educational planning, youth development, and state intervention programmes are data-driven and inclusive.
According to the Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Joseph-Kelvin Enyam, the form is designed to serve as a central repository for information on students across universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other institutions of higher learning both within and outside the state. It also accommodates graduates who are either in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or have recently concluded their service.
The creation of the student database is in line with the administration’s “People First” agenda, particularly in the area of youth empowerment, social investment, and human capital development. The data to be collected through the form will help the government:
* Plan effective student-targeted interventions such as bursaries, scholarships, and training programmes.
* Identify and engage Cross River students and alumni in both state-based and diaspora development initiatives.
* Support emergency response, communication, and logistics involving students (e.g., during crises, national mobilizations, or relocations).
* Facilitate internship, mentorship, and job placement schemes aligned with state and private sector opportunities.
The form, accessible via [https://bit.ly/CR\_STUDENTS\_DATABASE\_FORM\_2025], collects basic biodata such as full name, LGA of origin, school attended, programme of study, current academic level or graduation status, contact information, and in some cases, next of kin.
It is available online to ensure ease of access and mass participation by all eligible students. Completion of the form is free, voluntary, and open to all students of Cross River origin, regardless of their institution’s location.
While hosted on a Google Forms platform for now, the Office has assured that data confidentiality will be maintained, and responses will only be used for planning, engagement, and documentation purposes by the state government. Additional measures are being considered to transition the form to a more secure government-hosted platform in the near future.
The Office of the Special Assistant is also working closely with student unions, youth organizations, and the press to ensure wide dissemination and accurate understanding of the form’s purpose.
Students and graduates of Cross River State are encouraged to complete the form promptly to ensure they are captured in the emerging state-wide educational database, which is set to inform future policies and programmes directed at tertiary education beneficiaries.
This initiative signals a shift toward evidence-based governance and shows the state’s increasing reliance on data analytics for education, youth engagement, and economic planning.
For further enquiries or clarification, students may contact the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs via designated communication channels to be made available through student associations and official press releases.
