Manchester United have a long link with South American players, especially players from Argentina. Over the years, players like Juan Sebastian Veron, Carlos Tevez and Angel Di Maria have pulled on the red shirt, with Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho making names for themselves in the current squad.
Having joined the United squad in 2022 through the youth squad, Garnacho has made himself a key player for the Red Devils, getting eleven goal contributions in the Premier League this season out of 36 games. Over his time so far at United, Garnacho has racked up 85 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net fourteen times and setting up his teammates on a further nine occasions. These performances have caught the eye of the Argentinian national squad, getting him five call ups to the national squad.
Another Argentinian to have donned the Red Devils shirt is legend Carlos Tevez, joining from West Ham United in 2007 and coming one short of his century of games, making 99 appearances, netting 34 goals before re-joining West Ham. A star for club and country, Tevez was awarded 76 caps for Argentina, scoring a total of 13 goals.
With such talent gracing Old Trafford over the years, United are now eyeing up another potential Argentinian star to bring to Manchester to follow in their countrymen’s footsteps.
PlanetaBJ report that both Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing up Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino. United have been reported to be scouting him since the start of the year, with the price tag on him being around $25 million.
Unfortunately a torn hamstring has ruled Anselmino out of game time since 9th April, however the 19-year-old is sure to be keen to get back on he pitch and continue getting himself noticed.
