Earlier this week, popular content creator Maximilian was given the opportunity to check out Street Fighter 6’s upcoming DLC character, Akuma, ahead of his May 22 release. He had a limited time with the fighter and was able to show off some of what the returning legacy character can do in the latest iteration of the beloved fighting game franchise.
On top of working through all of Akuma’s combo trials, Max was able to hit the lab and try to find some of the strongest stuff he could within the time allotted. Last time, Maximilian shared a devastating Akuma combo that dealt a whopping 6,600 damage, and he has since broken this record and released another combo that hits even harder.
Max’s initial Akuma combo utilized as many resources as he could get to belt out as much damage as he could find. It starts off with a Punish Counter and ends with a Critical Art level 3 (not Raging Demon) to get the damage counter as high as possible.
The previous combo utilized Akuma’s new Adamant Flame special move, which starts as one strike with the first input, then allows the player to perform a follow up attack for more damage. Hitting the first hit raw as a Punish Counter makes it so that Akuma can connect a crouching heavy punch afterward and start in on some Drive Rush cancel fun.
From the looks of it, the majority of the new combo here remains the same, though there is one crucial change that tacks on some extra damage.
After the initial Drive Rush cancel from crouching heavy punch, Max found that Akuma can actually hit standing heavy punch out of this cancel, then hit another crouching heavy punch for more damage. Previously, we saw a link in this spot that used standing heavy punch into standing medium kick.
The result this time is a Street Fighter 6 Akuma combo that belts out an impressive 6,718 damage. Max also believes that players should be able to find even better combos that deal over 7,000 damage when Akuma drops this week.
Broke our previous Akuma combo damage record tonight. I for sure think someone will pass 7,000 when he’s available for all, but this isn’t bad. pic.twitter.com/RKz3Wr5SiT
