After waiting for almost a whole year, fans can almost finally get their hands on Akuma in Street Fighter 6, but not quite yet.
Instead of patch notes just yet, it seems that Capcom is gifting us all a new SF6 battle preview for Akuma showing off the demon in action some more.
Although this looks to be some legit developer footage in front of us, it unfortunately only lasts for a single round and without any health bars or gauges.
One thing we do get to see immediately is that Akuma can combo after his Demon Flip dive kick on a Punish Counter (at least at a certain height) that immediately pushes Ryu to the corner with seemingly enough time to teleport in with a meaty throw.
We also see his Overdrive charged Gou Hadoken, which sounds like it still hits Ryu at least twice, before closing things out with a heavy hitting Drive Rush combo into his grounded level 1 Super — that he apparently has enough time to do after a light Tatsu in this situation.
While it is of course nice to see some more of the new DLC character ahead of launch, this feels a bit more like a cold appetizer since other outside creators have been showing off much more of what he can do for a bit now.
Maximilian Dood got to play and stream a beta version of the new update where he had gameplay and an Akuma combo that did over 6,500 damage.
We’ve seen footage of Akuma fighting all of the DLC characters in their Outfit 3 attire, his literally intimidating taunts, Drive Rush into Raging Demon, and his full move list among others.
At this point, there’s just hours left until he officially drops on May 22 presumably after some serious server maintenance.
We also know that alongside Akuma will come the promised major balance patch, new combo trials, Outfit 3 for the DLC characters and apparently at least one new feature in the game.
Stay tuned to EventHubs for more coverage on the incoming massive update for SF6 as well as the full patch notes as soon as they become available.
