After the MultiVersus Open Beta went down in the middle of 2023, Player First Games went silent about MultiVersus for months. Just recently, it was announced that MultiVersus would be returning on May 28 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
Since then, the Joker was revealed as a playable character and Mark Hamill was reprising his role as the character’s voice actor. Following that, Banana Guard was also revealed a playable fighter, even though he previously functioned as a usable item during the beta.
Leading up to the big relaunch, it would seem that Player First Games saved some big surprises to get the fans hyped up. In the latest trailer, Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise and Agent Smith from the Matrix franchise have been revealed as playable fighters.
From appearances, Jason Voorhees looks absolutely massive in size. As of right now, he’s probably the second largest character playable in MultiVersus, next to Iron Giant.
Unfortunately, we don’t get the opportunity to see any gameplay from either Jason or Agent Smith. However, it’s implied that they could be teaming up with the Joker in Rifts Mode, the single player PvE campaign.
More than likely, Jason will have plenty of attacks that involve his iconic machete. Agent Smith will probably have a fighting style that utilizes his ability to copy himself and overwhelm opponents.
