Manchester United have for a while now been linked with Everton’s budding young defender Jarrad Brainthwaite as centredevils covered.
A report coming in from Daily Mail claims that Manchester United are prepared to offer Everton £55million for the youngster.
The young man fits the bill for the kind of players INEOS want to bring in to the club so United’s hierarchy may go all in for him.
He is exactly what they are looking for: young, shows potential and is homegrown. The fact that he is left footed is also a huge bonus and it will be interesting to see how this interest develops.
Everton’s position has always been the 21-year-old is not for sale but the club’s ownership is running into some issues and while the hierarchy looks for new investors, manager Sean Dyche admitted some players may be sacrificed.
Everton’s director of football Kevin Thelwell backed up these statements meaning there is a slight chance Brainthwaite may be one of the names let go to maintain FFP regulations at Goodison Park.
Manchester United’s defensive frailties have been there for all to see this season as the club is currently on negative goal difference heading into the penultimate game of the season.
They could certainly do with a proper left sided centre back especially considering regulal LCB Lisandro Martinez has been injured almost all season.
A big purchase like this would mean some sales have to be made so fans can expect a very busy summer at Old Trafford.
