NYPD Investigation for Separate HIT-AND-RUN Crashes with Serious Injuries – QUEENS

May 14, 2024 QUEENS, New York – According to police officials, NYPD is investigating two separate hit-and-run crashes that occurred within hours of each other on Monday, leaving at least one person with critical injuries in Queens.

At around 10 p.m., a 63-year-old woman was struck by the driver of a dark colored BMW who fled the scene and did not stop to render aid on the seriously injured woman, cops say.

The woman was struck while attempting to cross Queens Boulevard by the BMW driver who was traveling northbound at the 63rd Drive intersection in the Rego Park neighborhood.

The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital and last listed in critical condition, authorities said.

According to police officials the fleeing driver of the BMW later arrived at the 112 Police Precinct to turn himself in. Charges are pending a full investigation by NYPD.

Just a few hours before the critical crash, officials say at around 5 p.m., in a separate hit and run incident a 55-year-old man was struck by the driver of Honda CRV that occurred on Rockaway Point Boulevard.

The victim in that crash was transported to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, cops said.

According to police, the hit and run is being investigated as a possible road rage incident.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
