CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria dropped a sobering dose of reality to his viewers: voters realize the Democrat prosecutors behind the New York “hush money” trial against former President Donald Trump are politically motivated.
“Trump is now leading in almost all the swing states, but behind those numbers lie even more troubling details. As someone worried about the prospects of a second Trump term, I think it is best to be honest about reality,” Zakaria began Sunday on his show “GPS Sunday.”
When the ’24 race began to take shape, I thought Pres. Biden had a strong pitch to voters: a rebounding economy and a return to normalcy after the chaos of Covid & Trump.

“Republicans seem to be uniting behind Trump,” he continued. “Whatever opposition he faced in the primaries has largely melted away. And the trials against him keep him in the spotlight, infuriate his base, who sees him as a martyr and even may serve to make him the object of some sympathy among people in general who believe that his prosecutors are politically motivated.”

But it’s not just Trump’s supporters who see the trials against him as politically motivated — Zakaria does too!
“This happens to be true. In my opinion, I doubt the New York indictment would have been brought against a defendant whose name was not Donald Trump,” Zakaria asserted, without elaborating.
Zakaria, an avowed Biden supporter, also pointed to a CNN poll which found that 56% of Americans don’t believe Trump will have a fair trial.
“A majority of Americans are skeptical that Trump will be able to get a fair trial according to a CNN poll,” he said.
Meanwhile, an MSNBC panel was dumbfounded by a recent poll showing 53% of independent voters are far more concerned over Biden posing a threat to democracy than Trump.
“I find it shocking, honestly,” said MSNBC analyst Susan Del Percio on Thursday. “I can’t make sense of that number. I wish I could.”
