Ed falls from top ranks, but how far? Street Fighter 6 April popularity stats

Relative to the two DLC characters before him, Ed made quite the splash when he dropped into Street Fighter 6 back at the end of February. When we finally got the popularity statistics for his first full month of March, the newcomer had shot to the top of the charts at almost every level of play.

The numbers for April are in, however, and with Ed seeming to be one of the weaker characters on the SF6 roster, it’s not too surprising to find that he’s no longer appreciating new kid levels of popularity.

The Psycho Powered pugilist fell in the overall rankings by nearly 6%, which caused him to go from first down to fourth. Capcom graciously shares more filtered statistics across other ranks, though, and so we note he went from 6th to 7th in Rookie, 5th to 6th in Iron, 1st to 3rd in both Platinum and Diamond and finally from 3rd to 5th in Master.

Ed is still being played at a much higher rate than either of his predecessors, Rashid and A.K.I., who debuted at 13th and 5th overall in their first months, respectively.

Even after his initial plummet Ed is still higher up than either of the other DLC characters at the heights of their careers, so clearly Capcom did something right with him and his updated design.

Of course, with all the talk of the next DLC character, Akuma, we can’t help but note that we fully expect the demonic shoto to overtake the charts and likely remain at or near the top for the rest of Street Fighter 6’s life.

You can check tops of the selected current charts by taking a look at the images below, but you’ll find all the assorted stats for the month of April over at Buckler’s Bootcamp. Let us know in the comments if you noticed any other interesting movements from any other characters.
