Professor Chinenye Leo Ochulor the Head of Department of Philosophy of the University of Calabar, Calabar Wednesday was relieved of his appointment as the chair of the Department NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
This development is contained in an official letter addressed to Ochulor by the Registrar of the University Moses Abang and titled ‘Relief of Appointment as Head, Philosophy Department’. The letter is referenced thus : UC/REG/DISC. 45A.
His relief which takes effect from 8 August 2019 saw the University authority saying that ‘your headship of the department is characterised by tyranny, autocracy, acrimony, maladministration and high handedness.’
Continuing the letter reads, ‘Indeed the entire atmosphere in the department has been enveloped with high tension and a palpable air of uncertainty’.
The sacked professor of Ethics has been replaced by Prof. Kyrian Ojong who has been charged to stabilise an already uncertain department.
Our correspondent after a working visit to the department building to confirm the development saw an unusually jubilant teaching and non-teaching staff including undergraduate and postgraduate students who were visibly happy at his unceremonial exit.
By reason of this relief, Prof. Ochulor will return to the teaching of Ethics in the department.
