DOPT: Being an Open Letter to Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River State —by Francis Etang

21 June 2019
Your Excellency,
The Governor of Cross River State, Ayade Benedict.
It is becoming imperative and mandatory for your government to set up an e- check/feedback mechanism. To allow you as the Chief Executive Officer of the state and Chief Security Adviser to have a first hand feedback cum appraisal information system for your MDAs and the political appointees there in. This is devoid of the manual system which had been hitherto comprised and can be always manipulated by the operatives.
One watch with utter dismay as your law enforcement and regulatory agencies take laws into their hands up to a point of snuffing life out of a young and energetic hawker who husttle to eke out a living at Calabar road. A DOPT task force on road trading and hawking clamped down on this young man who resisted their reprimand and harassment, possible because of the accompanied charges or fine. And they had no option than to run their motor vehicle on the young lad and disappear into the thin air.
One begin to wonder if we have opposite of conflicts as regards laws in this state as I could remember last legislative assembly signing street hawking permit for have not's into law and tax exemption/holiday for medium and small scale enterprises in the state in a bit to ameliorate the sufferings of Cross Riverians.
Below is the corpse of the faithful departed, kindly use your good offices to set up and enquiry commission in respect of the gruesome murder of the faithful departed and hard working citizen of the federal republic. And the necessary mitigant, palliative and eradication measures to be taken.
Governor BEN Ayade, I believe in the sanctity and sacredness of life. No body has the mandate to unilaterally take life of another person out of involuntary impulse at the spur of the moment. This is is for your necessary action and information.
Thank you.
Francis Etang
