Linda Ayade FC stranded in Calabar, Pelican Stars borrows with cut-throat interest

11 June 2019
The woes of Sports in Cross River State are further deepened as the Linda Ayade Babes are on the verge of being walked over by the Osun Babes of Osogbo in the on-going National Female FA Cup 2019 Round of 25 matches, due to lack of funds NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
As at Tuesday evening, June 11th, the girls who were to travel to Warri in Delta State were still awaiting the intervention of the First Lady of Cross River, Dr (Mrs) Linda Ayade to enable to honor the match on Wednesday June, 12th.
Meanwhile, Pelican Stars which is the second team, has borrowed money from a local lender with a cut-throat interest rate for the trip to Owerri since they have not received their salaries nor required assistance for the past three months.
Feelers indicate that all efforts made to get the required funds to sponsor these female teams to don the state colours effectively have proved abortive.
It would be recalled that the Pioneer female state owned team has beendwindling in performance and it has just been relegated to the lower rung of the female league in preceding season.
