The attention of the Cross River State Government was drawn to the Odukpani LGA inferno that claimed the lives of many residents in the State.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, who represented the Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has called on residents of the State to take heed to the safety warnings of authorities and not fall victims of these avoidable deaths. She made this known as she visited the  survivors in the hospital as well as families of the deceased.
'Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the Odukpani tanker explosion victims; some of who lost their lives and others who are currently battling to stay alive having sustained serious injuries. We must learn to take heed to the warnings of authorities especially as it concerns safety and security.
This also calling on all of us to take safety very seriously as it is our collective challenge; and which can be conquered collectively.'
The Cross River State Government through the State Ministry of Health has reached out to the victims who sustained injuries and assured them of proper medical care, while investigation is on going as to the cause of the unfortunate incident.
