Mr. Eyo Ekpo, the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has expressed gratitude to men and women of the Nigeria military over what he called the “sacrifices” they have been making to safeguard the country NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
Ekpo’s message, which was in respect of the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day read; “Today is Armed Forces Remembrance Day and on this occasion, I want to join many other Nigerians in remembering and recalling with gratitude the sacrifices that have been made by so many Nigerians who have given the best of their adult life and indeed for many their precious lives while wearing the uniforms of our Armed Forces during periods of peace and conflict, and in the course of keeping the peace in other countries.
“Coming as I do from a family that has a tradition of both public and military service, I understand how important a day like this is and so I would join other Nigerians in remembering and saluting the sacrifices that have been made by so many, including members of my own family and my friends.”
Eyo further added that, “My heartfelt thanks are even more so at this time when our men and, increasingly, women are readily going in harm’s way across the country, but most especially in the North East, in defense of our Nation, our lives and our property, doing what is truly a thankless but Herculean job, and for far too many of the flower of Nigeria’s youth, paying the ultimate price, for a country that has too often given us cause to worry deeply. Yet, they stand firm on our Defense.
“Therefore, I join Nigerians in thanking them profusely and praying that they would find a just reward through the Grace and Mercy of the Almighty” he concluded.
