Mr Nton Bassey Bassey a model of servant leadership who hails from Ikot Akriba, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State is a Geologist by education and an Entrepreneur. A solution provider whose sterling qualities has shot him to the oil and gas industry were he thrives in the facility engineering upstream oil sector.
His achievements is a further affirmation that his recent strides is borne out of hard work and determination to change the course of nature especially in his immediate Federal Constituency.
In spite of the challenges faced by his Federal Constituency in vital areas such as flooding, environmental degradation, public transportation, security, unemployment, strain on existing physical and social infrastructure, slums and a massive housing shortfall, Bassey remained resilient, dynamic and forward looking”. Bassey's ambition to contest the Federal Legislative seat is to make every community in Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi economically habitable and curtail rural-urban migration.
The egalitarian Bassey is a firm believer in the thesis that the green chamber is the peoples house and there is no better place to serve the people than in the people's home.
Mr Bassey has predominantly warmed himself into global reckoning as an insightful leader. Not many actually gave him much chance of success when he started his businesses in Calabar. Today, barely 8 years after, his journey back to Calabar has invested incredible vision, innovation, time, energy and resources in setting the pace for good governance in the State.
Without doubt, Bassey's human building has positively transformed the profile of Akpabuyo/Calabar South/Bakassi. From Atimbo to Ikot Nakanda, from Ikot Effiom to Ikang, from Orok Orok to Ekpo Abasi, from Anantigha to Mbukpa, From Henshaw town to Duke Town the people loves him and are craving for him to to take a nod at the National Assembly. Such recognitions have come from diverse independent minds who sees Nton as a starting point and an optimistic enterprise that would help the State address its salient developmental challenges.
He recently kick against the move of some youth who demonstrated to the State House of Assembly to show displeasure against the ambition of Rt Hon Essien Ayi who is planning a fifth term in the National Assembly by saying is the right of the incumbent to contest because he is guaranteed constitutionally.
As a visionary leader and Chief Executive, Mr Bassey has attained a reputation that embodies qualities such as technocratic competence, commitment to results and above all integrity which Nigerians often complain are lacking in their leaders.
Bassey has achieved some detectable achievements in terms of creating jobs in his company De-Obabob Investment ( D-Oil) for youths over the years, payment of school fees to some indigenes students of Akpabuyo, humanitarian services to less privilege and building human capacity. He is an advocate of youth inclusiveness in Governance.
