Mr Inyali Peter, the publisher of Fearless Reports, has informed that there was votes buying in the Saturday 11 August 2018 bye-election in Obudu and a demonstration of super financial power by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party NegroidHaven has garnered. He added that, PDP won because they had more money not because they had a better political candidate.
The Obudu-born Publisher, Inyali said this yesterday while confessing to his massive failure in his polling units, as an APC member who canvassed for votes in Obudu in the election. In a social media thread titled ‘Obudu bye-election : I lost my polling unit (s), APC lost but…’, the reporter-turned-APC-Camvasser argued that he worked against PDP’s candidate, Mrs Abbey Ukpukpen for the reasons that he’s an APC member and was convinced Ukpukpen didn’t/wouldn’t represent the interest of Obudu people.
His words, ‘PDP won me in all the three polling units not because they had a better candidate but because they had more money to spend. That APC lost with only one vote in one of the polling units (The one in my Uncle’s compound) tell a lot about how my people are committed to sweeping the mess of the PDP out.

‘Let me add that, although I’ve heard crisis in some areas, with all honestly, the elections in the three polling units I concentrated was generally peaceful, free and fair. Everything went smoothly. There was no case of Police intimidation, INEC compromise. But there was vote buying!
Continuing, the APC canvasser disclosed that there was no police intimidation nor compromise by INEC at least in his polling unit. Inyali expressed hope for a better and possible emergence of his party in subsequent elections. He has congratulated Mrs Ukpukpen, the Honourable Member-elect.
Ukpukpen beat the APC candidate with a wide margin with 12, 712 votes against the leading contender, PDP’s 4, 345. Recall that Rt. Hon. Stephen Ukpukpen died on May 2018 and was buried on July 2018. His wife is replacing him in the Cross River State House of Assembly by reason of the landslide victory.
