Cross River State, one of the federating units domiciled in the south southern geopolitical axis of Nigeria houses one of the only surviving pristine rainforest in Saharan Africa. In fact, it houses one of the UN designated 25 hot biodiversity hot spots in the world.

This time of the year, September through December is labeled wet season. Yesterday, it rained rained cat and rat in some parts of the state like Calabar the capital city and Ogoja amongst others. In Ogoja, the heavy downpour resulted in flooding. This flooding was so serious in Ogoja such that farmers fear for their crops, etc.

One Iwong Michael, a Facebook user and presumably from Ogoja couldn't help but upload pictures of flood scenes from one of the farming communities in Ogoja. This is what he said as he uploaded the photo shots: 'Heavy rainfall has cause flooding in OGOJA and have destroyed crops worth millions of Naira. Relevant authority should  come to its rescue'. Ogoja is known for rice planting, Cassava, Yams, groundnut, etc I am calling on relevant government agencies/institutions to rise to the occasion.
