Leading Social Media Platform Names New Administrators a year after Backlash

Efio-Ita Nyok|10 August 2016

On the 7th of August 2016, Cross River leading social media platform, Cross River State Coalition for Change named a new set of administrators/moderators namely, Mr. Efio-Ita Effiom Nyok, Miss Theresa Ajima, Mr. Joseph Patrick, and Mr. Sixtus Emori Lebo. The previous administration comprised, Dr.  Raphael Ogar Oko and Onabe Edward.

According to a press release by Onabe Edward titled: 'Introducing the Administrators and Coordinators of the Coalition', it was revealed that, 'In an effort to get this platform running with best principles and standards of communication, information, enlightenment, transformation and coordination of change, the following members of this platform have been appointed to join the present set of administrators for the management and coordination of this forum for the good of members and Crossriverians home and abroad'.

'We use this opportunity to solicit the understanding and support of forumites as we carry out our respective duties for the good of the state. Members are hereby encouraged to go through the group information in order to understand our vision and mission. We also encourage members to join the administration and coordination of this forum by adding friends, family members and associates who are of Cross River State origin, or are currently residing within the conclave of Cross River State. We earnestly celebrate and appreciate your usual understanding and support. Thank you all', he concluded.

However, this administrative overhaul may have been in response to a set of criticism articulated by one Charles Ekanem (known as Prince Charles IV on social media platforms) and Efio-Ita Nyok on the 9th of August 2015. Nyok had raised ten questions in a post titled,
'An open Inquiry to the Administrators of CRSCFC on the Perceived Imbalance in her Administration'. According to him,

'It has become pertinent to call the attention of every concerned member of 'the coalition' as well as the leadership of the said 'coalition' to salient observations:

1. Cross River comprises 18 local governments areas(LGAs).

2. These 18 LGAs are further distinguished into 3 senatorial districts, namely, Southern, Central and Northern senatorial districts. The South comprises 7 LGAs, Central Senatorial District has 6 LGAs, while Northern Senatorial District has 5 LGAs.

3. Its indigenes are politically inclined so much so that in the Fourth Republic she evolved a viable social media platform, to wit, Cross River State Coalition For Change(CRSCFC) among others. This platform has evolved into the most viable and influential social media platform for all Cross Riverians both resident in the state and in the diaspora.

4. This perceived success of CRSCFC subsist in one thing, that is, leadership. For it has been contended among foremost leadership experts that every thing(including Cross River Coalition For Change), rises and fall on leadership.

5. However, the leadership spread of CRSCFC seem to wear a tag of triabalism/ethnicity, one of the banes of national unity and development in Nigeria and by implication Cross River State.

6. In view of '5' above, it should be brought to the notice of the general public and the entirety of the members of 'the coalition' that CRSCFC is administered by basically Cross Riverians of the Central and Northern extractions(in exclusion of the South).

7. We have for Central Senatorial district- Kennedy Nsan, Okoi Obono-Obla, Joseph Odok, Edward Onabe. For   Northern Senatorial district- Lambert Agama, Declan Genesis Ogar, Raphael Ogar Oko, Egbara Emmanuel and at some point a fictitious Angela Gold; but for the Southern Senatorial district -none!

8. Is it a mere coincidence that 'the South' with the largest number of LGAs in the State is deprived of a leadership representation amongst the administration of 'the coalition'?

9. Is this not another form of marginalisation of 'the South'? Or,is Cross River now made up of 11 LGAs? Or, is CRSCFC a propagandist element for the actualisation of the much converted 'Ogoja State'? Or, is CRSCFC buying into the concept 'Atam'?

10. Please can any member or administrator in the coalition rationalise why not even one Cross Riverian from the Southern Senatorial district has been elevated to the status of an 'administrator'?'

On his part, Charles Ekanem who cited one Supreme Coalition Council which Edward denied knowledge of. In a post titled, 'SCC Call for nomination of CRSCFC Admins from from Southern Cross River State', explained that, 'The Supreme Coalition Council after receiving a strong appeal from Southern Brothers to be included in the Administration of the forum for check and balances hereby call for nominations of southerners who have contributed to the development of the group'.

'*The person must be an active member.

* The person must not be found wanting in character.

* The person must be ready to keep to the norms of the group.

*Above all must not be sentimental', he concluded.
