‘Some Abuja resident critics l hear have petitioned AG Cross River to the IGP over their false stories concerning our dear state which l refuted in a press conference last night.
It’s laughable as these men have not bothered reading the Nigerian Constitution on the duties of my office? Anyway l am waiting for the mischief makers in court and l maintain that CRS is the best place to do business in Nigeria today, go and ask the owners of SPAR Ltd’.

The above statement is credited to Barr Joe Abang, Cross River State Attorney-General. He made this statement in reaction to the news that the counsel to Social Commentator Ifere Paul has petitioned his office to the Inspector General of Police in view of his call in a press release 19 July’s night calling on the Police to declare Paul Wanted in connection to recent spate of kidnapping and robbering in the state.
Meanwhile, Kalita Aruku, the state Deputy Youth Leader of the state opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in a press release signed yesterday has condemned the declaration of Ifere Paul as wanted by the Police in worded terms. According to him, the CRSG was using that as a ploy to constrain the opposition in the state. In his words, ‘The Youth leadership of the APC in Cross River condemn in the strongest of terms, tactics by the PDP led government to stifle opposition in the state. Most recently is the declaration of the indefagitable Mr Paul Ifere wanted. We urge the state government to concentrate on returning the security state of the state back to status quo rather than engaging in activities that will further polarise the situation’.
