Cross River-born Public Affairs Analyst, Prince Thomas Abi Jr., has condemned the recent kidnapping of Senator Patrick Ani and former aide to former Governor Donald Duke, Mr. Edem Ita Edem.

Prince Abi said never in the history of Cross River State had it been heard or seen that people live in fear in Calabar or its neighboring towns.

“I am shocked by this ugly trends taking place in Cross River State. A few days ago it was cult activities, as if that was not enough they kidnapped expatriates now senior citizens are being kidnapped”.

He said he understands that Governor Ayade means well for the Cross River people but he must be on ground to know the happenings in the state.

“I am sure the security reports the governor on his tables states that all is well. The truth be told, Calabar is not safe. Governor Ayade must move out to the streets and see things for himself. It is not a joking matter anymore”.

He further said the investors Governor Ayade is trying to bring might get scared of investing in Cross River State with the present poor security situation.

“No investor is going to invest in Cross River State under this kind of environment. With all the security threats here and there, who is the governor bringing the investors for? Is it his citizens that are kidnapped daily or living under fear? “

He said Cross River State is a tourism state and the governor must live up to his responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the Cross River people.

“We are known as a tourism state, we are known as a peaceful state. Are we going to host the Calabar Carnival under this kind of security situation? Recently I heard the governor intends to introduce homeland security in the state. All the governor needs to do is empower the Police, the Navy and other security agencies with the needed communication gadgets, equipments and partrol vehicles needed to curb crime”.

Prince Abi said the governor as the chief security officer of the state must do his best to restore sanity in the state.

“I strongly condemn the kidnappings, it is lampoonable, that this act of brigandage is taking place in Cross River State. I appeal to Governor Ayade to immediately address the security situation in Cross River State”.

He also called on security agencies to do everything possible to restore peace and security in the state.
