A point was that flooding was controlled especially in Donald Duke's second term in office and Liyel Imoke's first term in Office. With gutters constructed and regularly cleaned, there was a free flow of of waters and flooding was controlled to a large extent. The cleanliness of Calabar reduced the incidence of flood as less debris were carried by flood during heavy rains.
This high feat is destroyed within one year of an environmentalist governor in the person of Ayade. This is due to dirt in the city of Calabar. During rains, non decomposable waste like pure water sachets, bottled water containers, nylons etc are carried by the rains to block the drainage system in Calabar. This is the reason for emerging floods in the metropolis of Calabar.
It is sad that in the days of a self acclaimed Professor of Environment, Calabar is more dirty with our drainage systems blocked. Our educational system is collapsing and worst off in the days of a professor. Could we doubt the fact that Ayade is a Professor of Environment? Or is Ayade just a paper professor? This begs the question.
Cross River State is geometrically retrogressive in the days of Ben Ayade as the governor. Things are really falling apart as the governor funds only himself, his family and in-laws. Cross River State funds are used in the execution of his personal companies and businesses while a crop of hungry men praise singers continually engage themselves in the game of media hype especially after being fed with crumps like the prodigal son feeding from crumps from the swine.
Suggestion:
Ayade should as a matter of urgency take the cleaning of the state as a matter of urgency with damaging environmental implications
Our gutters that have been neglected since the inception of Ayade's government should be contracted and cleared to avoid the impending dangers of flooding. More areas are only manifesting the dangers days ahead as flooding is becoming the an occurring decimal in Cross River State.
Ayade must show working as his few days in office has showed an all down record in development. A stitch in time saves nine.
