The Cross River State House of Assembly has summoned the Commissioner for Environment, Director General Waste Management Agency and Executive Secretary of Calabar Urban Development Authority to appear before the House in plenary on Tuesday 14th June 2016 to answer questions and offer public explanation relating to waste management in the state especially in Calabar the state capital.
Deliberating on a motion brought by the Whip, Hon Okon Ephraim, Members noted that the relevant government agencies have woefully failed to collect and dispose refuse in the state resulting to the littered and dirty nature of the state capital.
The House observed that the state of affairs is unacceptable and resolve to engage the relevant Agencies on the challenges, constraints and possible success strategy required to remedy the situation.
