Foremost student body, namely, National Association of Ogoja Students (NAOS) – worldwide, has endorsed Mr. Paul Ishabor, aspirant in the forthcoming Local Government Council Elections in Cross River State NegroidHaven can say.
Ishabor, an investment and development expert and legal professional, is aspiring for Chairmanship of Ogoja Local Government Area, Northern Senatorial District of the state, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at a forum in Ogoja at the weekend, President of the association, Mr Austin Obeh, explained that the decision of the body to support Mr Ishabor was thought-after and aimed at contributing to the development of the Ogoja, one of the oldest provinces of the country.
His words, 'Barr Ishabor has the requisite experience and qualities to be chairman of Ogoja, he has over the years, proved to be a pragmatic leader while carrying out various tasks in the state; he has served various administrations and we saw his outstanding performance. We believe strongly in him and give our support as the largest students’ body in the region,' he said.
Also commenting, Abang Ogon, Coordinator of the campaign team, described Ishabor as a leader who has always worked with his people at the grass root. He therefore, called on the people of the council to support him.
While speaking, Ishabor promised to serve his people better adding that there’ll be revolution in agriculture under his administration.
According to him, 'our major occupation in Ogoja is farming and as I speak to you I am a farmer, we are going into aggressive farming in the next three years and we shall feed the entire nation, nobody can take our cultural heritage from us. Innovative youths will be involved in this administration and I expect them to bring solutions to our numerous problems'.
Ishabor was instrumental to the business entry for the following major investors into Cross River including Wilmar International/PZ cussons -$400m investment portfolio, General electric -$1bn multi-modal manufacturing and training facility, Artee/spar group$100m investment in a world class shopping mall, Brentex petroleum -$300m, pipes mills manufacturing, project masters-$100m,oil and gas fabrication yard.
Others include Giant cement -$600m,investment in a six million metric tons(MT) cement plant, premier feed mills -$100m,feed plant, Flour Mill Calabar among others
He has also been involved in the conceptualization and implementation of the 5bn, Songhai CRS farm initiative.
Also, he among the Cross River state team to Mumbai, in India for meeting with the GM India EXIM Bank aimed at resolving the procurement issues of the EPC contract for calabar IPP project.
He was part of the CRS Delegation to the second Nigeria investment summit to New York organized by the Africa Business Roundtable among others.
On his political career, Mr Ishabor was the president National Association of Ogoja students world wide 2001/02, Senate President Law Students Association of Nigeria, UNICAL chapter (2003).
Also, he was President National Association of Northern CRS students (NANCRISS)2003/04, president Ogoja youth PDP campaign organization and he had participated actively in the 2003, 2007, 2011and 2015 elections with victories for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
