Cross River Born Public Affairs Analyst, Prince Thomas Abi Jr. has expressed great worry over the abandonment of the Bansara Rice in Ogoja LGA. He called on Governor Ayade to industrialize the State by keying into the rice in Bansara.
In a statement made available to Negroid Haven Abi Jr said the rice in Bansara has the capacity to employ thousands of youths in the region and also change the economic fortunes of the state and the people.
“The rice in Bansara in Ogoja Local government area is one that has the capacity to put Cross River State on the world map. It is one that can change the economic fortunes of the people of the state and also generate huge revenue for both the government and the people of the state. The government of governor Ayade must look inwardly and generate wealth through the Bansara rice. Everyday we hear of Abakaliki rice, but the truth is, the Abakaliki rice is actually Bansara rice. So why can't we Industrialize our own rice rather than allowing our people sell their products to the millers in Ebonyi?”, Abi Jr inquired.
Prince Abi further stated that when produced and packaged the rice is not just only going to add revenue to the government but it would bring about economic growth to Ogoja and it's neighboring towns.
In his exact words, “The rice is going to open Ogoja and other neighboring towns. And so, governor Ayade must work quickly towards industralizing Bansara rice. I hear the governor wants to build a rice city, my candid advice is that the rice city should be moved to Bansara in Ogoja Local government area where large quantity of rice is produced”.
Prince Abi also called on Governor Ayade to revive the silos in Okuku, Yala local government area, stating that it would aid the storage of farm products in the region.
