Former Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie was officially unveiled today at his new club with thousands of fans turning him to cheer and welcome him.
Robin Van Persie was quiet impressed by the turn out and has said; ” He's humbled by the turn out of fans in Istanbul.
Robin Van Persie was signed from Manchester United for a fee of £4.8m, and Man United could receive further £1.2m if he plays 30 games for his new club Fernabahce.
Van Persie joined United from Arsenal in 2012 for £24m and won the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford. He struggled with injury last season, however, and managed just 10 goals. And this has given Manchester United enough reason to sell the aging 31 year old star.
With amazement of the large turn out, Van Persie has promised the fans to do his best to bring trophies to threality. As he said;, “I will try to learn Turkish very fast because I think it is very important that you adapt to the country you are living in and I am now part of the Fenerbahce family so I will adapt to the country and to you.
“And I promise you one thing – I will do everything in my power to help Fenerbahce win many trophies to make you guys happy. Because I can only imagine, if I see today, how it would be if we win the league, what kind of party that will be. I hope I can share that with you guys.
“Let's do it together.”
He also took time the thank the management of Fernabahce for making the deal happen.
