Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Barcelona Lionel Messi. He openly tells of how Lionel Messi can make the very idea of a system almost irrelevant. And he did just that against Bayern Pep Guardiola.
The World of football watched how Messi annihilated Bayern and to Messi it all seemed like a new chapter for him. When we all thought Cristiano Ronaldo has it all, Lionel Messi always comes out with something exceptional. For instance Ronald scored his 9th goal in 11 appearances in the Champions League after he scores against Juventus, making him the all time scorer in the competition which Messi was previously occupying. Messi then scored two breath taking goals against Bayern Munich to top up again and made it his 10th goal in the Champions League this season.
Jose Mourinho has admitted that a team with Lionel Messi is a different team, and Lionel Messi is just unstoppable. Mourinho has played against Lionel Messi while at Chelsea, Inter-Milan and Real Madrid. And he opened up how Messi always gives him course for concern. Mourinho said, the man to man marking is the best for Lionel Messi, not with too many people and he did it with Inter-Milan and succeeded both home and away. While he went further to say sometimes it works and sometimes does not. Mourinho also admitted saying, “This season was the first season for many, many years that I wasn’t there, but, watching Messi, you don’t miss being there!” the Chelsea manager stated. Of course Jose Mourinho has not failed to reach the semi-final since 2009. Mourinho admitted it’s impossible to stop Messi, “Every time I was thinking about how best [to] collectively — I am not saying stop him — give him a difficult match. I think this is the correct word. It is not about stopping him but giving him a difficult match. That is the best you do against him.” Mourinho conclusively said “People think in the wrong way, one thing is a team. Another thing is a team with Messi. It is a different story.”
Could it be said Lionel Messi was the difference on the night or on any team could be the difference not really the tactics of the Coach Per `se, but Lionel Messi can perform his wonders and make something out of nothing?
