Parenting Today: Brought to you by Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic
Tara Shields and Alex Sawyer are the highly experienced x-ray technologists at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC).
Tara has been an x-ray technologist at Seattle Children’s for 10 years. Her favorite part of her job is “working with the kids.”
“I like engaging with them and building a sense of trust,” Tara says. “Sometimes, patients are afraid when they first get here; I help guide them through the process.”
Alex is also dedicated to serving local families and strives to grow her skills for their benefit. “There are always new things to learn, whether its new technology or better ways of doing various exams.”
When having x-rays done at OBCC, Alex and Tara say families can expect quality care that’s also convenient.“
We get imaging done as quickly as possible while making sure our patients arecomfortable and all their needs are met,” Alex says.
Walk-in patients needing x-rays are welcome at OBCC and typically only wait15 to 20 minutes.
Tara used to be an x-ray technologist at Children’s hospital campus. She wants families to know they will receive the same exceptional care when they get x-rays at OBCC. “We have the same expertise, the same training and the same equipment, just closer to home.”
In addition to the clinic’s convenient location, Tara appreciates the kind and compassionate team at OBCC. “When you’re here, you can tell the care providers are truly passionate about serving kids and families.”
Children’s radiology supervisor Heidi Jensen says kids benefit from having their x-rays done at a pediatric clinic like OBCC. “Our technologists are specialty trained in this field and are experts in imaging children of all ages. The radiologists who readthe images are also specialized in pediatrics. Additionally, our x-ray equipment isset to pediatric doses, delivering less radiation than other sites that may not see asmany kids.”
