The month of May has just arrived, but it looks like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans are in for one of the biggest tournaments for all of 2024.
Kagaribi 12 is going down in Japan this weekend with much of the best competition from around the world in attendance including LG|MkLeo, ZETA|Acola, FaZe|Sparg0, ZETA|Tea, RC|Shuton, CR|ProtoBanham, Maister, Solary|Glutonny, DIME|Raito, R2G|Kameme, SNB|Abadango, Revo|Yoshidora, SZ|Asimo, SBI|KEN, DFM|Zackray, ZETA|Gackt, YSM|BassMage, Moist|Goblin, and many more.
Although the event was originally scheduled to cap entrants at 1,024 players, that limit was doubled and almost filled completely with 2,030 now registered.
This is all only for one Super Smash Bros. Ultimate singles tournament as well being the sole event there with around 1,000 more signed up just to spectate the finals.
Kagaribi will be split up across two days in Japan from May 5–6, which equates to starting in the evening of May 4 and 5 for North America.
Streaming for the event is taking place officially in English through VGBootCamp as well as EGS in Japanese.
