TRAMA sends Godwin Nyiam off in Style and emotions
Officers and Management staff of Cross River State Traffick Regulatory And Management Agency, TRAMA have poured encomiums and words of encouragements on the outgoing Director General of the Agency, Mr. Godwin Nyiam in a well attended send forth ceremony held in his office in Calabar.
The event which held Saturday 27th May 2023 saw staff of the agency pour encomiums amidst emotions on the DG, for his good works within the four years of his administration. They saluted his courage for ensuring the agency gets promoted from a department to an agency with legal backing from the state House of of Assembly.
Many staff who took turns to speak amidst emotions said they will miss him as he had been a friend and mentor to them, always being there for them and willing to assist and defend them in any situation.
According to Nneoyi Mbang, the Adjutant of the Agency, the Out going DG had been the strength and pillar of the Agency. He added that Comrade Nyiam is a result oriented boss that has given the Agency a facelift. A good man whom he said they will greatly miss. But he is consoled by the fact that his exit will lead to greater responsibilities and opportunities.
“The Bible said there’s time for everything, a time to have a Goodman and a time for the good man to go. Father, boss and master, I must confess, you are a good man. You have done well. For the rest of us, my advice for us is that we should know that we are going to miss a great pillar. For giving us this platform to legally operate and all you have done for us, I pray God grants you bigger platforms where you will become more relevant to Cross River State government. We don’t know how you did it, but all we keep seeing is result, sir you have done well.”
The Out Going Administrative Officer of TRAMA said “Godwin Nyiam is one person that has always carried everybody along. Today, we are both leaving and I believe we are leaving to meet somewhere else again. And I would still love to work with him. When I was first posted here, I thought I won’t be able to work in this environment. The place looked too militant for me at first . All throughout my stay here none of you fought me, none of your threatened me, and I know that wouldn’t have been possible if you didn’t have a disciplinarian like Godwin Nyiam who doctored and trained you.”
The officer incharge of the VIO unit, also used the opportunity to seek for forgiveness wherever they might have been issues between them in the cause of discharging to their jobs.
The Chorus leader of the Agency Mr. Ekpe also informed the out going DG that he has given them a platform that cannot be deleted or taking away from them.
Esther Offiong, a member of the Provost Department, appreciated Comrade Nyiam for all the good things he has done for them, adding that the out going DG had been a major source of encouragement and motivation to many of them and also ensure some of them were posted to the MLA department and created awareness to them.
In his address to members of the staff, Comrade Nyiam said the history of his life won’t be written without a good part of it be dedicated to his days with TRAMA. He said all he as achieved in the agency couldn’t have been possible if he didn’t have their support. Therefore, as he rounds up his days with them, it is only natural to appreciate them.
He advised them to use him a learning experience that power is transient. And always carry out their work within the ambit of the law.
Speaking with Calabar Parrot, shortly after the event, Nyiam said he was gratified and excited that his little contributions and selfless services towards the development of the state and mankind was being recognised and appreciated. He said he was happy that he has contributed his part to the growth of the Agency.
“I feel highly excited and highly gratified that my selfless services, my efforts, my sleepless nights to make sure that there’s value addition while I stayed in office as DG have been rewarded today. They may not have given so much, but I tell you they have given so much because I have not heard of any MDA where the staff especially the civil servants gathered to celebrate their own. I am sure if I wasn’t doing the needful, or doing what I am supposed to do as the head of that Agency off course they wouldn’t have celebrated me the way they did today. So for them to say, I have done well, I feel so excited and I wish to do more given higher responsibility. For everything that has a beginning have an end, the end have come so I feel so excited.” He said.
He however, advised members of the agency to take advantage of the law and do not operate outside of the law. Asking that they learn from him as an example. Where he was DG yesterday and tomorrow he will be addressed as former DG.
Highpoint of the ceremony was presentation of an Award of Excellence to the Out going DG, Mounting of guard of honour as well as chanting of songs and dancing.
However, Calabar Parrot observed that many of the staff would have loved Comrade Nyiam to continue if they had their way. It is also noted that Comrade Nyiam seems to be the only head among other MDA’s whose staff organised such a reception for which speaks volumes to his interpersonal relationships and managerial skills.
