CALABAR – The Cross River Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon.  Ijom Ukam has described Teachers as the bedrock and architect of a thriving society. 
The commissioner who made this known in a statement to celebrate the 2023 edition of  World Teachers Day in Calabar said through hard work and commitment, teachers have inspired generations to dream beyond boundaries and become responsible. 
 “Teachers are the bedrock of any thriving community and the architects of a brighter future, your unwavering dedication to imparting knowledge, nurturing talents, and molding characters shapes the destiny of our state. Through your hard work and commitment, you inspire generations to reach for the stars, to dream beyond boundaries and to become responsible and informed citizens.” He noted. 
The commissioner further averred that Cross River State is fortunate to have a community of dedicated educators who go above and beyond to ensure that every child receives quality education, stating that their resilience and passion are the cornerstones of the  educational system.
The statement reads in parts:
“It is an honour to address you on this momentous occasion of World Teachers’ Day. Today, we come together to celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers to our society and to express our deep gratitude for the impact you have on the lives of our young learners.” 
“On this World Teachers’ Day, let us remember the transformative power of education. It is through your dedication that we build a more enlightened, compassionate, and prosperous society. I pledge my unwavering support to the cause of education and though development in Cross River State, and I alongside you to create a brighter future for our youth.”
