CALABAR – The Obong of Calabar Executive Forum (OCEF) has extended its heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, for proactively playing a pivotal role in bringing an end to the unfortunate tussle on the Obong of Calabar’s stool.
In a statement issued over the weekend, they express their commitment to supporting “the harmonious unification of the Efiks under the esteemed leadership of His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Out V, Treaty King, and Grand Patriarch of all Efiks .
The statement jointly signed by Chief Gershom Henshaw (MFR), and Chief Dr. Maurice Ekpenyong, Chairman and Secretary of OCEF respectively, urged everyone to set aside their differences and return to the Palace of the Obong of Calabar, emphasizing its openness to all Efik and friends of the Efik Nation.
The OCEF extends gratitude to the state government for its timely intervention, acknowledging the restoration of peace and dignity to the Efik Land. While congratulating His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V on his official recognition as the validly selected and elected Obong of Calabar.
The statement further urged all Efiks, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally around His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V to collectively build a prosperous Efik Kingdom for the benefit of all.
This resolution marks a significant milestone in the history of the Efik Kingdom, fostering unity and paving the way for a new era under the recognized leadership of His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.
