CALABAR – The Community Health Officer in Ijiraga Community in Cross River State, Mr. Augustine Okutu, has highlighted the positive impact of drone technology, specifically Zipline, in bridging the vaccination gap in rural areas.
Okutu explained that Zipline had partnered with the state government to enhance healthcare access in remote regions. He said the use of drones has helped in vaccination in rural areas, as the impressive drone deliveries have increased public trust and demand for immunization.
The community health officer emphasized the cost savings and elimination of concerns about fake or expired drugs with the use of this technology.
Mr. Raphael Obok, the Focal Person for a Primary Healthcare Centre, also praised the drone technology for boosting vaccination responses. He mentioned that the convenience of requesting and receiving medical supplies through Zipline’s drone delivery has positively impacted primary healthcare parameters.
Cross River’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, expressed appreciation for Zipline’s contribution and revealed plans to establish another facility in Akamkpa to serve the Southern Senatorial District of the state.
