The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command CP Nkeruwem Akpan has told the management of the indigenous football team, the Rovers Football Club of Calabar to use him as a role model to the young people of Cross River State as an insignia of hope and steadfastness to drive home their visions and goals.
The Commissioner made this known on a courtesy visit by the team’s management to his office in recognition of his outstanding performance during his time as a youngster of the football team years back.
CP Nkeruwem noted that sporting activities of this magnitude helps reduce restiveness amongst young people, reduces security tensions and urged stakeholders to support such initiatives.
“If young people see people like us, they will understand that the future ahead is great. Therefore use me as a role model”, CP Nkeruwem said.
The CP also promised the management of his physical appearance on Thursday 27th February, 2019 to cheer the training of the team against a Nigerian League tournament billed next month.
Responding the Chairman of the club, Mr Ebam Ejenosowor appreciated the Commissioner for identifying with the team which he said will boost the morale of players for better performance both home and away while drawing the needed attention from stakeholders for the team.
High point of the visit featured the presentation of jersey with his player name and number “SKELLE 9” as honourarium to the CP for his contributions and support for the team.
