COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION INAUGURATES STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD CROSS RIVER STATE.

The education subsector in Cross River State is one of Senator Professor Benedict Ayade’s heartbeat, as he is constantly working and putting together vibrant personalities and modalities to ensure that every child in the state has unhindered access to basic quality education.

The Governor’s deep vision and undying passion to see this dream actualized led to the appointment of an academia and a deep thinker as Commisoner for Quality Education and a studious and pragmatic personality as the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.

These round pegs in round holes have  earned the state her pride of place among her counterparts in terms of the educational sector and the basic education sub-sector, across the country.

Having seen the efforts of members of the basic education board as spear-headed by the resourceful chairman, Dr. (Barr.) Stephen Odey in the last tenure, Governor Ayade has yet again returned them all to continue the good works and to re-enforce their rescue mission agenda, thereby taking the state’s educational system to the highest height.

The board members which consists of Dr. Stephen Odey as the Chairman also have Mrs. Nancy Awukam, Mr. Inyang Nyong Okon, Mrs. Juliana Nkpe Bisong and Mr. Cyril Itam Ubi as  Members 1,2,3 and Secretary respectively.

Admonishing them while inaugurating the board, the Commissioner for Quality Education, Dr. Godwin Amanke, said “I have no need to worry because the board is in capable hands. However there is need for you all to double your efforts in order to deliver on the mandate of the board, among which are transformation of the educational sector in the state and the need to deliver on quality education to every single child, while providing them with basic forms of learning.”

Dr. Amanke therefore pray for peace in the households of all the members to enable them deliver on their roles with peace of mind while also making the state and the nation as a whole proud.

Responding on behalf of the board, the returned chairman, Dr. Stephen Odey pledged to continue on the rescue mission agenda and to also ensure that they stabilize basic eduction in the state.

Recall also that under the able leadership of Dr. Odey in the first tenure as chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, thousands of ghost workers were uncovered and purged out of the system, holders of fake certificates were fished out through a personnel audit exercise and most recently, the board was well applauded by cross Riverians for successfully conducting recuirtment exercise where two  thousand five hundred (2,500) qualified teaching and non-teaching staff were employed across the state.

The high point of the occasion was the oath-taking as conducted by the Director of Administration, Mr. Emmanuel Egban, where the Chairman and Board Members promised to deliver against all odds on the dividend of quality education in the state amongst other things, this closely followed by the official documentation and signing of register which was handed over to the Honorable Commisoner to be used as an official document in the ministry of quality education Cross River State.
