Cross River State Commissioner for Environment, Mfon Bassey has pledged support for the Tinapa Free Zone & Resort.
He said he would not waver in his commitment to the sucess of Tinapa Free Zone & Resort within the confines of available resources from his office.
Bassey made this pledge during a courtesy call on him by the management team of the resort led by the General Manager, Dr Francis Ekom.
He commended the efforts of the Tinapa management in maintaining aesthetics of the resort, especially in the area of mowing of grasses that have before now defaced it, describing the resort as “our biggest asset as a state”.
The Commissioner assured Dr.Ekom of his Ministry’s readiness to assist the management achieve a clean and green environment in the resort.
” I want to commend you for a job welldone so far by you and your team in ensuring that the Tinapa resort is not over grown by weeds and grasses. From all you have said here I will need to find the time to come and visit the place and see for myself how we can come in to assist you in keeping that resort clean and green.
“Tinapa is our biggest asset as a state and we must not allow it to waste, therefore, my Ministry will do all we can within the confines of available resources to help you maintain this national asset,the Commissioner said.
Speaking earlier, Dr Ekom thanked His Excellency, governor Ben Ayade for his foresight in appointing Mfon Bassey as Commissioner for Environment saying the appointment was a square peg in a square hole.
The General Manager used the occasion to commend governor Ayade for the support he has been providing the Resort especially with regards to grass clearing and other landscaping works.
Ekom: “Let me thank his Excellency the Governor for appointing such a vibrant young mind as his Commissioner for environment, as we have seen already from the works going on in the state capital.His appointment was a master stroke and I can as well say it was a square peg in a square hole.
“We have seen the Ministry of Environment embark on massive beautification drive of the state capital, desilting of gutters, maintaining of our roundabouts and lots more is being done so we as a management is here to thank the Commissioner for his efforts and solicit for support and forge a closer working relationship with the Ministry”
He appealed to the Commissioner to help sustain this support by bringing the ministry’s Clean and Green Renaissance campaign to the Tinapa resort.
Dr Ekom had earlier briefed the Commissioner on the latest effort of the Tinapa Free Zone Management to enhance the asthetics of the resort and invited the Commissioner to visit the facility for a joint inspection.
