NAWOJ URGES STAKEHOLDERS TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THE AFRICAN CHILD

As the world marks the Day of the African child today, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Cross River State Chapter, has urged all stakeholders to protect the rights of the African child.

This is contained in a statement by the State Chairperson, Mrs. Umo Basi-Edet, in Calabar, who stressed on the need to end the incessant child rape and molestation currently ravaging the country.

Mrs. Umo Basi- Edet pointed out that with this year’s theme “Access to a Child-Friendly Justice System in Africa”, it is pertinent for lawmakers and law officers to join hands in the campaign to save the African child with good judicial reforms system.

The NAWOJ Chairperson while celebrating the day, charged children to be good ambassadors and advised them to shun vices, from friends, peer group, family members, the society among others.

She also used this year’s occasion of the “Day of the African Child” to wish all the children a happy and peaceful celebration across Africa. #
