Mr Cyril James-Omini, the Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Security, Yakurr Local Government Area, has called on the organisers of a planned protest against cultism scheduled to hold in Ugep community on Wednesday July 22, to stop forthwith.
James-Omini, who spoke with journalists in Calabar, said the organisers had breached the protocols on which they ought to follow before embarking on a protest.
According to him, the organisers did not write to his office, the police and the local government Chairman to inform them of the planned protest.
He said that such a protest without the due knowledge of the constituted authority can be hijacked by some hoodlums.
“We can not allow such a protest to take place because the organisers have not informed the appropriate authorities accordingly.
“We have the Leboku festival at hand and we can not allow anything that will breach the peace of the area to take place.
“I have spoken with the Local Government Chairman and the police and they all said that no notice of such planed protest have been communicated to them.
“We ought to be informed of what happens in our area so that we can be accountable should incase anything happens differently,” he said.
