Much fun was had this past weekend by the lucky few who were selected to participate in the Tekken 8 beta, and while many were simply checking out how their favorite fighters felt in the midst of the latest Tekken mechanics, content creator Hi, Buff Gigas Please? had other plans.
With a keen eye out, HBGP was able to spot some 45 interesting details that you likely missed while playing. Many of these are Easter egg call backs to older Tekken titles, most of which are hidden in the backgrounds of stages and lobbies. Others are much closer to the actual battles as certain characters will have different animations or sound effects play out depending on whom they’re facing off with.
You probably noticed the prominent alien spaceships floating around in the sky of the new Ortiz Farm Peruvian stage, but did you spot the little gray alien who pops up in the Machu Picchu-esque ruins in the background?
Also when it comes to this stage, we obviously know that Azucena Ortiz’s family is in the coffee growing business, but did you know that their business is apparently sponsored by Leroy? A super close look at the cup Azucena holds in one of her cinematic animations features the outline of Leroy’s face next to the text “Smith Coffee.”
Nina players may have noticed some varying sound effects when it comes to her ff3 kick. Landing this move on female opponents sounds fairly straightforward, but landing it on male opponents causes an odd clanking sound effect to occur.
Kazuya players might know there’s a slight variation in the animation of his Rage Art when it’s used to K.O. a foe. The victorious Kazuya will proceed to kick his defeated foe after winning in this manner, unless his opponent happens to be his baby mama, Jun.
The cool thing about this video is that HBGP goes the extra mile to show the actual references and call backs in their original appearances. This makes things even easier to recall, compare, and contrast.
