The Cross River State Governor His Excellency Senator Processor Ayade Benedict through the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development CRS Comr. Asu Okang in the bit to promote sporting activities, have redefined the scope to touch every nook and cranny of the start by providing various sporting equipments in Outdoor and Indoors sport with international standards.
The reason stated by the Honourable Commissioner in an interview ” is to harness and develop optimally the finesse of sport athletes to it’s full potential by catching them young”.
About 50 primary schools were captured across the eighteen local government area of Cross River State in the exercise but in the wisdom of HE Ben Ayade, provisions were made to accommodate even more primary schools.
One of such primary schools is the Army Day Primary School, Afi Barracks- Ikom Local Government Area who expressed happiness for HE Ben. Ayade’s intervention in sports even as it concerns pupils in primary schools.
The presentation of the sporting equipment, Volleyball Category was carried out on behalf of the Governor by the Commissioner Youth and Sports Comr. Asu Okang and received by the Commanding Officer of the 245 BN Afi Barracks Col. Solomon Diwa who then presented it to the head teacher of school.
“We will make sure this equipment are put to optimal use and thereby producing the next set of pupils who will represent this cantonment in sporting activities in the State” – Col. Solomon Diwa.
Exhilarated by the show of solidarity and warmth reception by the NA leadership and the pupils, the Honourable Commissioner in his benevolence gave the sum of N50,000 cash for “bobo drink” to be provided for all the pupils who came dressed in uniforms even on holidays to partake in the event.
The event had in attendance, the Vice Chairman CRS Pelican Stars football club and some appointees of the State Government.
