The Warden Sources on investigations over a land dispute between two notable indigenes of Ikot Offiong Ambai in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State, Ndabo Patrick Effa Edet Effa herein referred to as the Appellant and H/H Umo Okon Effiom Asika herein referred to as the respondent, uncovered a serious attempt by the Nigerian Police to undermine the authority of the Judiciary.
The court ruling with case number MAE/A1/2012 under His Worship V. S. S. Ebaye (Mrs), Chief Magistrate of Akwa Ikot Effanga Magistrate Court of which judgement was delivered in favor of the Appellant.
Unfortunately, the respondent in his nature of violating every sense of law and order basking on the euphoria of his position as the village head did not yield to the court ruling.
The appellant in bid to enforce the ruling of the court and reclaim his land which is visibly opposite the said village head’s palace made a passionate appeal in writing to the Nigerian Police, Ikot Nakanda Division.
Investigations revealed that a team of Policemen were released on request to vacate the occupant who was still found operating in the said land but on getting there, the team of policemen failed to execute their order.
The Warden as at the time of filling in this report cannot for certain tell if their actions and inactions in operation is connected to bribery as they are being accused by concerned individuals but we are certain that there is water under the bridge and it amount to a gross violation and disrespect to the ruling of the judiciary and a threat to peaceful coexistence of the people and indigenes of Ikot Offiong Ambai and Nigeria at large.
We hope to unravel the mystery behind their actions as we launch a deeper investigations into the matter.
