The National Youth Council of Nigeria – NYCN, Calabar South Chapter have endorsed the chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party – PDP.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Comrade Effanga Offiong and sent to our news editor reads, “We have unanimously agreed, endorse and adopted the chairmanship candidate of Calabar South, Mrs Esther Bassey of the PDP after a careful scrutiny of the process”.
Effanga explained that the exercise became necessary even as the Youth Council is expected to be apolitical, stating that as a candidate from the youth constituency, it is expected that we rally and support her emergence.
“I am using this opportunity to call on all the youth in the Local Government to throw their unflinching allegiance and loyalty that we have enjoyed through our stay to this decision reached.
It is time for the youths to rise for the youths regardless” – he said
The correspondence further read, “Our mandate is drawn from our very strong slogan, ‘build the youth…build the nation’, and we can only achieve this by rising to the occasion whenever the need arises”.
Esther Bassey is the chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party – PDP Calabar South, the ruling party in Cross River State.
