The Canaan Table Tennis Club through it’s Chairman, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke had received a boast to it’s talent development program targeted at young players in Cross River State through the laudable support initiative of Arch. Bassey Ndem, an erstwhile Commissioner in the State and a businessman.
Arch. Bassey Ndem who is the Chairman of Axari Hotel and Suites, with an undaunted support for young people and talent development in the State had offered all four of the star medalist, Idoreyin Udoka, Vivian Oku, Animashaun Abayomi, Mustapha Bello, ambassadors of the establishment.
In a well attended launch party organized to honour these young players, Arch Ndem lauded their performance, stating that talent is the focus of the future
In his words he noted emphatically that “EndSARS protest and it’s aftermath, shows that all hands must be on deck to help our neighbors survive these hard times, while encouraging the youths to find other productive outlets for their energy”
In his persuasion for the team to attain even more greater feat, he continued, “We, therefore, wish to encourage the Players and all the Coaches, to work even harder, and win more laurels for Cross River State and even Nigeria as you prepare for your upcoming Olympics in Japan”.
He however cautioned journalist against such reports that is capable of causing the divergence of interest from the focal point which is to develop and improve on the lives of the children.
“Do not use the innocent children/ players as pawns in any political game. It is morally reprehensible and I see no difference between this and deploying child-soldiers”, he warned.

Also outlining the focal interest of the company which is geared to restoring the dignity of humanity even in the most trying times.
One of such noble gesture was through the outreach program of the year 2020 to the poor and vulnerable communities in the state with over 4,000 food packs during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown that stirred an economic hardship within the neighborhood communities and the country at large.
This he explained as an improvement to the company’s CSR initiative.
High point of the event which was also to mark the Children’s Day celebration presented the children and other guest from the Canaan Table Tennis Club and Ministry of Sports the opportunity to relax, unwind and have a fill of their taste buds to the savor of the best prepared delicacies of their choice.
