The Cross River State government, Friday visited some public facilities of the state government to ascertain its current state.

Chief of Staff to the state Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar who led other top government officials during the visit decried the deteriorating state of public facilities, describing it as pitiable. 

At the Mariana resort, one of the states foremost tourism sites, the Chief of Staff who was conducted round the resort by some senior officials of the ministry of tourism, including the permanent secretary, Rev. Mrs. Eme Afia said apart from the deteriorating state of the facility, some persons were also involved in stealing important items within the resort. 

At the cultural center, the Chief of Staff, expressed sadness over the dilapidated state of the place and promised to fully brief the governor for necessary action.

“It is very sad to see that some important public facilities that we have visited so far are almost gone if nothing is done about it. The  Mariana resort and even this cultural center used to be our pride as Cross Riverians. If nothing is done urgently to rescue and preserve these important places, I am afraid, we.may loose them.

“I have conducted around the facility and the next thing is to go back and brief the governor and from there, Cross Riverians will see the next step that will be taken ” Ironbar said
