In the first four months since the game’s release, the Street Fighter 6 modding community has already put together some pretty neat stuff that goes beyond what you’d expect like character costumes.
One of them in AntiSky just released a pretty slick mod that replaces the existing character select screen in SF6 and other menus with pixel art.
The artwork used comes from the existing official assets included in the game as the pixel variants of the “New Challenger” screen for online matches.
Despite that, cropping them down to just the faces really does give off a real classic vibe to the Street Fighter 2 and Alpha games, especially when looking at characters like Zangief, E. Honda and Blanka.
It’s also cool to actually see them for Rashid and A.K.I. too considering I don’t think I’ve come across anyone yet who uses them in the game itself.
Made a mod that turns the portraits in Street Fighter 6’s character select screen into the pixel art variants! #sf6 #sf6mods pic.twitter.com/PBNkpsnY82

Outside of the main character select screen, this mod changes the portraits for the select in Training mode, inside of Battle Settings and the Match History within player profiles.
It’d be even cooler to see these pixel portraits used in other aspects of the game too although we’re not quite sure how that’d really work yet.
You can check out more info on the mod on AntiSky’s Nexus Mods page.
